Torretta Filomena. located on a hilltop at 330 m above sea level along one of the numerous white tracks that animate the brilliant Cortona countryside, dominates a landscape immersed in silence, enlivened by the plain of the Val di Chiana with its cultivated fields and green hills topped by picturesque old borghi, with one of the most well-known being Montepulciano. A picturesque rustic painting into which this recently-restored refuge, far from the bustle of everyday life, fits harmoniously. In full respect of the genius loci, the exposed-stone building has preserved intact the charm of the typical Tuscan rural home, once a rustic farm: the rooms are characterised by simplicity and essentiality yet are comfortable and welcoming. The pride of the property is the wonderful manicured garden that surrounds the house, a succession of Mediterranean essences, olive trees, climbing jasmine and bushes of white roses; on one side the exclusive swimming pool offers wonderful panoramic views and full relaxation. Immersed in the brilliant nature of the Val d’Esse, rich in churches, archaeological sites and Renaissance villas, along the stream of the same name which extends to Umbria, the property is just a few minutes from wonderful Cortona. From here you can easily reach the nearby shopping centres and main road links, and you can make many trips seeking culture, typical gastronomy and art towards the major towns of Tuscany, such as Siena, Florence, Arezzo and of nearby Umbria, such as Perugia, Assisi and Orvieto. Short trips will take you to the famous rural borghi around Siena, such as San Gimignano, Montepulciano, Pienza and Montalcino in the Val d’Orcia and also the magnificent Chianti area.
Interior:
The house has two floors, ending with a turret. The main entrance on the ground floor leads into the living area, consisting of a sitting room with satellite TV, a fully-equipped kitchen and a dining room. The floor is completed by a double bedroom (with divisible bed) and a bathroom with shower. On the first floor, reachable by both internal and external stairs, is a double bedroom (with a 1,50 m wide bed) with en-suite bathroom with tub, a twin bedroom (with joinable beds) served by a bathroom with shower and a hallway with a panoramic study corner. In the turret is a double bedroom and a guest bathroom (with a small shower). The laundry room is located in an annex adjacent to the parking area. Air conditioning in the bedrooms (mobile air conditioning in the one on the ground floor).
Park:
3,500 sq m of park, enclosed by wire mesh fencing and walls with a minimum height of 1.50 m, frame Torretta Filomena, dotted with lavender and rosemary bushes, roses, lilies, jasmine, peonies and a sea of olive trees that spread out at the back of the house. The garden extends over two terraces. At the level of the driveway is the parking area and the annex with the laundry room. A flight of 14 small steps bordered by lavender bushes leads up to the level of the house and to the dining area covered by a sail, near the entrances to the house. A few steps away is another shaded table and the pool area. Video surveillance system at the property entrance (it can be deactivated on request).
Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
The panoramic swimming pool is located on one side of the house, which is about 20 m away and reached along a level path. The rectangular pool, measuring 12 x 5,5 m with the depth ranging from 1,10 to 2,10 m, is lined in PVC with a stone and terracotta edge. It has salt purification and a metal ladder for access to the water. The cosy lawn solarium area surrounding it is equipped with sunbeds, armchairs, umbrella and a cold-water shower. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October.
